Sensex, Nifty Open Higher as Reliance Buying and Foreign Inflows Support Markets

October 29, 2026

India’s benchmark equity indices moved higher in early trading on Thursday, October 29, 2026, supported by buying in Reliance Industries and inflows from foreign investors, according to a Press Trust of India (PTI) report published by The Hindu.

The 30-share BSE Sensex advanced 245.43 points, or 0.34%, to 73,491.46 in morning trade. The broader 50-share NSE Nifty rose 62.55 points, or 0.28%, to 22,761.40.

The gains reflected positive buying interest in heavyweight stocks and support from overseas investment flows. However, the early-session movement represents a snapshot of market performance and does not establish how the indices will finish the trading day.

Reliance Industries Supports Market Sentiment

Buying in Reliance Industries was identified as one of the key drivers behind the rise in benchmark indices. Large companies can have a meaningful influence on headline market performance because their share prices contribute to the movement of major indices.

When investors increase exposure to heavyweight stocks, benchmark indices may gain even when performance across individual sectors and companies remains mixed. The extent and sustainability of such gains depend on broader market participation and subsequent trading activity.

Foreign fund inflows also supported sentiment during the morning session, according to the report. Overseas investment activity is closely watched by market participants because it can influence demand for Indian equities and affect overall risk appetite.

Investors Monitor Foreign Fund Flows and Market Direction

Foreign investment flows are an important factor in India’s equity market, as international investors allocate capital across countries based on valuations, economic prospects, currency movements and global financial conditions.

Fresh inflows can support share prices by increasing demand for equities. However, foreign investment activity can change quickly in response to international developments, interest-rate expectations and shifts in investor sentiment.

For businesses and investors, movements in the Sensex and Nifty can provide a broad indication of market sentiment, but they do not necessarily reflect the performance of every company or sector. Investment decisions generally require consideration of individual financial results, valuations, business fundamentals and risk tolerance.

Companies seeking to strengthen financial planning and evaluate business performance may also consider professional business advisory services when reviewing strategic and financial decisions.

Early Gains Do Not Guarantee a Positive Close

The rise in both benchmark indices marked a positive start to Thursday’s trading session. The Sensex gained 0.34%, while the Nifty advanced 0.28% in morning trade, with Reliance Industries buying and foreign fund inflows providing support.

Market direction through the remainder of the session would depend on continued investor participation, movements in heavyweight stocks and developments in domestic and global markets.
