Indian Stock Market Rally Continues: Sensex Jumps 615 Points, Nifty Climbs Above 23,580

November 3, 2026

Indian equity markets extended their winning streak in early trading on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, as easing crude oil prices and renewed foreign investor buying supported market sentiment. Both benchmark indices opened higher, continuing the positive momentum recorded during the previous three sessions.

The BSE Sensex surged 614.66 points to reach 76,301.63 in early trade, while the NSE Nifty 50 advanced 149.80 points to 23,588.55. The gains reflected improving investor confidence amid expectations of better global energy conditions and sustained corporate earnings performance.

Banking, Cement and IT Stocks Lead Early Gains

Several heavyweight stocks contributed to the market's upward movement. InterGlobe Aviation, UltraTech Cement, HDFC Bank, Asian Paints, Hindustan Unilever and Infosys were among the major gainers in the Sensex.

However, the rally was not uniform across all sectors. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Kotak Mahindra Bank, NTPC and Power Grid Corporation were trading lower during the early session.

The mixed performance indicated that investors were selectively buying shares rather than participating in a broad-based advance across every major stock.

Foreign Investor Buying Supports Market Sentiment

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) provided additional support to the domestic market. According to exchange data cited in the report, FIIs purchased equities worth ₹3,114.68 crore on Monday, November 2.

This buying activity followed a strong session in which the Sensex climbed 1,233.25 points, or 1.66%, to close at 75,692.78. The Nifty gained 387.70 points, or 1.68%, ending the day at 23,440.80. Both indices settled at their respective session highs.

Market participants are watching whether foreign inflows continue, as sustained institutional buying can influence liquidity, valuations and short-term market direction.

Crude Oil Prices and West Asia Developments in Focus

Lower crude oil prices have emerged as an important factor supporting Indian equities. Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, was trading marginally higher at approximately $104.80 per barrel during the reported session, after retreating towards the $105 level.

India's dependence on imported crude makes international oil prices particularly important for its economic outlook. A sustained decline in energy costs can ease pressure on the import bill, inflation and operating expenses for several businesses.

Hariselvan Radhakrishnan, founder and CEO of HST Wealth, said investor sentiment had received support from the correction in global crude prices. He also pointed to Qatar-mediated exchanges between the United States and Iran, which have raised hopes of progress towards ending the conflict and restoring normal energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz.

However, geopolitical developments remain uncertain, and any disruption to energy supplies could quickly change market expectations.

Market Experts See Several Factors Supporting the Rally

V K Vijayakumar, chief investment strategist at Geojit Investments Ltd, identified several factors that could help sustain the market's positive momentum.

These include lower Brent crude prices, continued strength in quarterly corporate earnings, foreign institutional investors returning as net buyers and changing sentiment around artificial intelligence-related investments.

He also highlighted the unusually sharp single-day rise in Reliance Industries, which reportedly gained 11.6% on Monday. Such a significant movement in a large-cap stock is relatively uncommon and contributed to the broader market's performance.

Global Markets Remain Mixed

Asian markets presented a mixed picture on Tuesday. South Korea's Kospi and China's Shanghai SSE Composite traded lower, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index moved higher.

In the United States, equity markets ended Monday's session unevenly. The Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500 closed in negative territory, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average finished higher.

Investors are also looking ahead to the US midterm elections, which could influence expectations surrounding fiscal policy, international trade and developments involving Iran.

What Investors Will Watch Next

The domestic market's next direction is likely to depend on several interconnected factors: crude oil movements, foreign institutional investment flows, corporate earnings, geopolitical developments and trends in global equities.

Although the latest gains indicate improving sentiment, market movements can remain volatile when international developments and energy prices are uncertain. Investors should assess their financial objectives, risk tolerance and investment horizon rather than treating a short-term rally as a guarantee of continued gains.
