Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a two-day visit to Gujarat on Friday, October 30, 2026, with the inauguration of the Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre (BBBRC) at Bhildi in Banaskantha district. The ₹325-crore facility is designed to strengthen indigenous cattle breeds, improve dairy productivity and provide advanced breeding services to livestock farmers.
Spread across 127 acres, the centre has been established by Banas Dairy with technical guidance from the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and support from the Centre’s Rashtriya Gokul Mission. During the inauguration, the Prime Minister toured the facility and interacted with officials to understand its operations.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Banas Dairy chairperson and Gujarat Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary accompanied Modi during the programme.
Centre to Focus on Indigenous Cattle Breeds
The BBBRC will use advanced breeding technologies, including in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) and embryo transfer, to improve the genetic quality of indigenous cattle and support higher milk production.
According to the official statement, the facility aims to produce approximately 25,000 high-quality embryos every year. Its breeding programme will cover indigenous cow breeds such as Kankrej, Gir, Sahiwal and Tharparkar. It will also work with buffalo breeds including Mehsani, Banni, Jaffrabadi and Murrah.
The initiative is intended to help dairy farmers improve productivity while managing the increasing costs of maintaining livestock and the limited availability of fodder. The centre will provide high-quality semen, embryos and other breeding services at affordable rates, according to the government.
By making advanced breeding facilities more accessible, the project is expected to support the development of the dairy sector and improve the productivity of indigenous livestock.
Five Banas Dairy Projects Planned
During his visit to Bhildi, Modi is also scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for five major development projects associated with Banas Dairy.
The projects form part of the broader effort to strengthen dairy-related infrastructure and improve services for farmers in the region. The newly inaugurated breeding centre is expected to play a significant role in this effort by supporting scientific livestock improvement and access to advanced breeding technologies.
For dairy businesses and agricultural enterprises, investments in infrastructure, productivity and modern technology can influence long-term operating efficiency. Such developments also highlight the importance of sound business advisory services when organisations plan expansion, infrastructure investment and operational improvements.
Major Infrastructure Projects on October 31
The Prime Minister's second day in Gujarat, October 31, will include programmes in Ekta Nagar, home to the Statue of Unity dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
According to officials, Modi will offer floral tributes at the Statue of Unity, inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth more than ₹400 crore, and visit the Rain Forest and Vaman Vriksha Vatika.
He is also scheduled to participate in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations marking the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Several major infrastructure initiatives are part of the planned programme. These include the foundation stone for Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2A and Phase 2B. Phase 2A will cover more than six kilometres, with five stations connecting Koteshwar Road to the airport. Phase 2B will extend over approximately 3.3 kilometres, covering three stations between GIFT City and Shahpur.
Another major project involves upgrading and strengthening Ahmedabad-Mehsana Road, or State Highway-41, from four lanes to eight lanes. The project is estimated to cost around ₹2,600 crore and is expected to improve connectivity between Ahmedabad and North Gujarat.
New Anganwadi Centres and Agricultural Infrastructure
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for 4,030 new child-friendly Anganwadi centres and inaugurate 361 completed centres across Gujarat. The initiative involves an investment of approximately ₹800 crore and is expected to benefit more than four lakh people.
In the agricultural sector, 521 projects completed under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund will be dedicated to the nation. Their combined project cost is estimated at around ₹4,950 crore.
The projects include cold storage facilities, cold chains, warehouses, silos, polyhouses, greenhouses, integrated processing facilities and primary processing centres. These facilities are intended to strengthen agricultural storage, processing and supply-chain infrastructure.
Bharat Parv 2026 to Promote Cultural Tourism
As part of the Ekta Nagar programme, Modi will inaugurate Bharat Parv 2026, a cultural and tourism festival celebrating India's diversity and national unity.
The festival will provide States and Union Territories with an opportunity to present their regional traditions, folk performances, cuisines, handicrafts and tourist attractions. Organised around the theme of “Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat”, the event is intended to highlight the country's cultural heritage.
Bharat Parv 2026 will continue until November 15 and is expected to support tourism in Ekta Nagar and nearby destinations. Officials have also included participation in the Narmada aarti among the Prime Minister's planned engagements.
The two-day visit brings together projects in dairy development, transport connectivity, agriculture, social infrastructure and tourism. The announcements reflect the range of development activities planned across Gujarat, with a particular focus on improving infrastructure and supporting regional economic activity.
