Meta Launches Meta One Subscription With Paid AI Features Across Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook

September 16, 2026

Meta has launched Meta One, a new subscription service bringing premium features and expanded artificial intelligence capabilities across Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Meta AI. The company says the service is designed for individual users, creators and businesses seeking additional tools beyond the standard free experience.

Meta said Meta One has already crossed 15 million subscriptions and trials during its phased rollout and now offers more than 50 features. The company plans to expand the service further, including to its Edits application and AI glasses.

Meta One Plans Start With App-Specific Subscriptions

Meta One includes several subscription options. Reuters reported that individual app subscriptions start at $2.99 per month, while individual bundles begin at $7.99 and creator and business bundles start at $14.99. Pricing and availability can vary by market.

The individual plans are aimed at users who want additional customization and enhanced features on Meta's platforms. Bundled plans add greater access to AI capabilities, including tools for creating and editing digital content.

Meta has stressed that Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are not becoming paid-only services. Their core functionality, along with basic Meta AI access, remains available without a subscription.

AI Becomes a Major Part of Meta's Subscription Strategy

One of the most significant elements of Meta One is its focus on expanded AI access.

Paid users can receive higher usage limits and additional AI-powered tools for activities such as image creation, editing and other forms of content production. Meta is therefore adding a subscription layer around some of its more advanced AI capabilities rather than keeping every feature available at the same level for all users.

The company is also developing additional AI capabilities for creators and businesses. Meta says future features will include agent-based tools designed to assist with marketing, business operations, content creation and optimisation.

For businesses using Meta platforms as part of their digital presence, these tools could increasingly connect AI assistance with customer communication, analytics and content management. This creates another potential use case for auditing services in india, particularly for businesses that are expanding their digital operations and need stronger financial and compliance oversight alongside technology investments.

Creator and Business Plans Add Professional Tools

Meta One also extends Meta's existing subscription approach for creators and businesses.

According to Meta, professional plans include features such as verification, enhanced analytics and additional support. Some higher-level business offerings also provide tools for managing content and customer interactions more efficiently.

Meta says it intends to continue adding features aimed at helping creators and small businesses manage marketing, operations and content through its ecosystem. The company also plans to expand Meta One to Edits and its AI glasses.

The expansion represents a broader effort to turn Meta's large collection of consumer platforms into a subscription ecosystem where different users can pay for additional functionality according to their needs.

Billions of Users Give Meta a Large Subscription Base

Meta's potential subscription audience is enormous. The company averaged 3.60 billion daily active people across its family of applications earlier this year, according to Reuters.

Meta has traditionally generated most of its revenue from digital advertising. A subscription model gives the company another source of recurring revenue while allowing it to charge users who want additional AI capabilities and professional features.

However, the company still has to demonstrate that enough users will consider these additional features worth paying for, particularly when the basic versions of its major platforms remain free.

Meta Joins the Wider Shift Toward Paid AI

The launch comes as technology companies increasingly develop paid tiers around advanced AI capabilities. Meta's approach is distinctive in that it can place those features inside platforms that already have billions of daily users.

By combining social-media features, AI tools and professional services under one subscription structure, Meta One gives users the option to pay for a more advanced version of the ecosystem they already use.

For consumers, the decision will largely depend on how valuable the additional AI and customization features are. For creators and businesses, the calculation may also involve analytics, verification, content management and customer-service capabilities.

What This Means for Users

Meta One does not mean that Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp are becoming subscription-only platforms. The core services will remain free, while paid plans provide additional AI usage, advanced creative tools and professional features.

As Meta continues adding features to the subscription, the launch could become an important part of the company's broader strategy for monetising AI and its large global user base.
