Thoothukudi | August 28, 2026

The Income Tax Department in Thoothukudi conducted an outreach programme for Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Societies (PACCS) on Friday, with the initiative aimed at strengthening awareness and communication with cooperative credit institutions.

The programme was organised under the guidance of V. Vivekanandan, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Madurai, and the direction of F.A. Yaseer Arafat, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Thoothukudi, according to an official press release.

Focus on Tax Awareness and Compliance

The outreach initiative provides an opportunity for PACCS representatives to better understand applicable tax-related requirements and compliance procedures.

Such programmes can help institutions address queries, improve awareness of tax obligations and develop more systematic approaches to maintaining financial and statutory records.

Importance of Accurate Financial Records

Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Societies play an important role in providing credit and financial services to agricultural communities. Maintaining accurate books and properly documenting financial transactions is therefore essential for effective financial management and regulatory compliance.

For organisations dealing with regular financial transactions, professional auditing services in india can provide an additional layer of review by helping assess financial records, internal controls and compliance processes.

Regular interaction between tax authorities and cooperative institutions can also help improve communication and reduce confusion around evolving tax requirements.

The Thoothukudi outreach programme reflects the Income Tax Department's efforts to engage directly with local institutions and promote greater awareness of tax compliance.
