Income Tax Department Attaches Properties and SUV Linked to Suspended Telangana DSP Bheem Reddy

November 5, 2026

The Income Tax Department has provisionally attached two residential properties, four parcels of agricultural land and a Toyota Innova Crysta in connection with proceedings involving suspended Telangana Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sankireddy Bheem Reddy and his wife.

According to the supplied report, the department's Benami Prohibition Unit issued the attachment orders in Hyderabad on November 3, 2026. Investigators allege that the assets were acquired through benami arrangements in exchange for official favours during Bheem Reddy's tenure as a police officer.

The recorded transaction value of the attached assets is approximately ₹59.4 lakh. However, tax authorities reportedly estimate that their current market value could run into several crores of rupees.

The provisional orders restrict the sale, transfer or other transactions involving the properties without departmental permission while the legal proceedings continue.

Two Houses Allegedly Transferred Without Payment

The investigation concerns two houses located in Brundavan Gardens at Muttangi. According to the report, real estate company GPR Housing Private Limited transferred the properties to an individual identified as Pothuganti Indra Karan Reddy in July 2023 without receiving payment.

Each property measures approximately 200 square yards and has a registered value of ₹14.2 lakh.

Investigators suspect that the houses were intended for Bheem Reddy as consideration for alleged official interventions or inaction when he served as Sub-Divisional Police Officer in Patancheru.

The alleged favours reportedly involved not registering certain complaints and facilitating settlements in disputes connected with the real estate company.

The department is said to have examined statements from the company's director, G. Kalyan Babu, and Indra Karan Reddy. According to the report, the former described the properties as a gesture of gratitude, while the latter allegedly said he had allowed his name to be used for registration at the police officer's direction.

Electricity records, written communications and a handwritten property list were also reportedly examined as part of the investigation.

Four Agricultural Land Parcels Allegedly Held Through a Home Guard

The department has also provisionally attached four agricultural land parcels measuring a combined 3.20 acres in Mogudampally. Their recorded transaction value is approximately ₹8.9 lakh.

The land was registered in the name of Laxman Nayak, a Home Guard. However, investigators have identified Bheem Reddy's wife, Sankireddy Bhagya Laxmi, as the alleged primary beneficial owner, with the suspended officer named as an alternative beneficial owner.

According to the case documents described in the report, a memorandum of understanding signed in August 2023 stated that Bhagya Laxmi had financed the purchase and that Nayak had no actual ownership claim over the land.

Investigators reportedly examined financial records, bank transaction details, WhatsApp exchanges and documents shared with the police officer to establish the source of funds and the alleged beneficial ownership.

Toyota Innova Crysta Also Attached

A separate attachment order concerns a Toyota Innova Crysta valued at approximately ₹22 lakh. The vehicle was allegedly provided to Bheem Reddy by Aluri Suresh, proprietor of Apple Enterprises.

Investigators suspect that the vehicle was given in return for assistance in resolving accident-related disputes involving commercial vehicles owned by the businessman.

The report states that the officer had exclusive possession of the vehicle from late 2024 and paid its routine running expenses.

Earlier Anti-Corruption Bureau Action

The latest attachment proceedings follow an earlier operation by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on July 2, 2026. The agency reportedly searched 16 premises connected with Bheem Reddy and claimed to have identified disproportionate assets with an estimated market value exceeding ₹150 crore.

He was subsequently arrested on July 6, according to the supplied report.

The latest action by the Income Tax Department represents a separate step under benami property proceedings. Such investigations examine whether assets are held in one person's name while another person has allegedly provided the consideration or exercises the actual beneficial ownership.

Businesses and individuals facing complex financial investigations may require careful examination of ownership records, transaction trails and supporting documentation. Shunyatax's financial investigation services address financial record analysis and related investigative requirements.

Provisional Attachment Does Not Establish Final Guilt

The Income Tax Department's attachment orders are provisional and do not amount to a final judicial determination of ownership or criminal guilt.

The allegations concerning the properties, vehicle and alleged exchange of official favours will remain subject to the applicable legal proceedings and adjudication.

The case highlights the role of financial records, property documentation and beneficial ownership checks in investigations involving suspected benami transactions and alleged disproportionate assets. The final outcome will depend on the evidence examined by the relevant authorities and courts.
