Former Union Minister P. Chidambaram has said that the newly discussed Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) could potentially capture power in one or two States, while expressing uncertainty over whether the group could establish itself as a significant third political force at the national level.
Speaking to The Hindu 360 at his residence in Chennai on Wednesday, Chidambaram said the CJP's prospects nationally remained difficult to predict.
He noted that while the party could make an impact in individual States, he could not say whether it would eventually develop into a third force across India.
Chidambaram Comments on NEET-UG Paper Leak
During the conversation, Chidambaram also addressed concerns surrounding the NEET-UG examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Discussing the paper leak controversy, he argued that the incident exposed vulnerabilities associated with the way the examination is administered. He pointed to the NTA's relatively small number of permanent employees and the challenge of conducting a nationwide examination across thousands of centres.
According to Chidambaram, these structural factors made the possibility of a paper leak a foreseeable concern.
