Belarus Tax Authorities Collect BYN 28.8 Million From Taxi Operators

September 14, 2026

Belarusian tax authorities have collected an additional BYN 28.8 million in taxes from taxi operators following a review of tax returns filed by businesses operating in the sector.

The Ministry of Taxes and Duties said the monitoring exercise covered nearly 10,500 business entities between January and August 2026. The review was aimed at identifying discrepancies and ensuring that taxi operators were meeting their tax obligations.

Tax Authorities Review Nearly 10,500 Businesses

According to the ministry, tax officials conducted desk audits of almost 10,500 entities operating in the taxi sector during the first eight months of the year.

Following the reviews, authorities issued nearly 2,400 notices to taxi operators regarding their tax obligations. The ministry said these notices resulted in additional tax payments of BYN 28.8 million to the state budget.

The figures highlight the growing use of tax-return monitoring and desk audits to identify potential discrepancies without necessarily requiring an on-site inspection.

BYN 11.6 Million Due Following Further Checks

The ministry also reported action against operators who did not respond to official notices or voluntarily fulfil their tax obligations.

As a result, tax authorities prepared 93 desk-audit reports. The ministry said these cases resulted in taxes amounting to BYN 11.6 million becoming due to the budget.

The authorities also held 80 individuals administratively liable and imposed fines totalling BYN 1.8 million.

Information on 43 Businesses Sent to Law Enforcement

In addition to tax assessments and administrative penalties, information concerning 43 business entities was forwarded to law enforcement agencies for legal assessment under criminal-procedure legislation.

The move indicates that the authorities are examining some cases beyond routine tax compliance and administrative enforcement.

Tax Compliance Remains a Key Focus

The Belarusian tax authorities' review demonstrates the importance of maintaining accurate financial and tax records for businesses operating in highly monitored sectors.

For companies and self-employed operators, timely tax filings, accurate transaction records and proper financial documentation can help reduce the risk of compliance disputes. Professional bookkeeping services in india can similarly help businesses maintain organised financial records and support accurate tax reporting.

Conclusion

Belarusian tax authorities collected an additional BYN 28.8 million from taxi operators after reviewing nearly 10,500 businesses during January-August 2026.

The enforcement exercise also resulted in additional tax assessments, administrative fines and referrals involving dozens of business entities, underlining the authorities' continued focus on tax compliance and accurate reporting.
